There is no single test to diagnose PMOS/PCOS, and some patients may require additional testing. Typically, a referral from your doctor to an endocrinologist is necessary for a comprehensive evaluation. Common diagnostic methods may include a physical exam, pelvic exam or ultrasound, and blood tests.

We require payment at the time of service. Depending on your policy, some clients may be eligible for reimbursement from their insurance company. We are not considered a medical office, and to our knowledge, no electrolysis offices in Illinois accept insurance for electrolysis.
- Visit your doctor and obtain a diagnosis of PCOS/PMOS, hirsutism, or hidradenitis suppurativa, along with a recommendation for electrolysis as a medical necessity.
- Submit a prior authorization request with your diagnosis to your insurance company. They will let you know whether electrolysis is covered under your policy and how many units or sessions they will approve. One unit equals a 30-minute session.
- Let your electrologist know that you will need receipts with the appropriate codes for your treatments. Submit these detailed receipts to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
